Melanie Moore -  Owner

Melanie Moore has a doctorate in education and has spent the majority of her career in the health field, educating new allied health workers and creating nursing and health science programs for many colleges and career and technical colleges. Always having a passion for art and being the natural crafter she is, she decided several years ago to upcycle furniture, take on painting, and found her niche that offered her a respite from working on a computer all day.

She is the proud mother of six children, ages 10-31, and "NiNi" to seven grandchildren....all aged 5 and under! Now that she is moving into a new chapter in her life, she has decided to follow a long-time dream and open a place in Albemarle where families and friends can gather and shop. A unique boutique is what Melanie has always imagined.

Why the name LuLu? LuLu is the nickname Melanie's family has for their 24 year-old daughter who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome when she was three. Officially named Lyndsay, her nickname came about from the Grinch's Cindy Lou Who as Lyndsay resembled this sweet little Who when her hair was pulled up. So Lyndsay LuLu became the name of the online boutique and now LuLu's Teahouse and Treasures.
